Created completely using notation software, this piece has a nice caribbean/ latin feel to it. A very upbeat and lively arrangement, it's sure to be a hit when played live.

Written in 1997, my second composition was an experiment in story-telling. tigerTiger is the portrayal of the life of a tiger cub from birth to adulthood. It's a journey from the beginning to the time in which all of us realize that we have arrived. I set the piece in the vast jungle amidst the tribal calling of the drums. Each step of the tiger's life marks an difference in feel and speed. A change to 6/8 time reveals the chase the now grown tiger ensues toward it's prey, until its capture and the tiger's arrival into it's own world.

This adaptation arranged in 2001, with the drum line writting by Mark Roddy, is an AIA SIlver Medal winning piece at the 2002 Championships in Fairfax, VA.

Requires 16-18 players
pit percussion: 8-10 players
drum line: 2 snares, 1 tenor, 5 basses

Warriors is a piece and concepts based on the music of the Taiko Drum. With the backing of a strong string section and a flute solo, this composition tries to evoke the ancient art and spirit of the samurai warrior of feudal Japan. This piece can be adapted to just about any instrumentation.
